From my perspective, debate is a phenomenon of duality that encourages ARGUEMENT &quot;for&quot; and &quot;against&quot; a particular point of view.  It fosters the need to prove why one view is &quot;right&quot;, while another is &quot;wrong&quot;.  

Your post reminds me of the question we&#039;ve all heard asked, &quot;Would you rather be right, or would you rather be at peace?&quot;  A very simple question, yet loaded with the invitation for self-reflection, humility, and ultimately, for becoming clear as to one&#039;s motivations!!
